The Society of Critical Care Medicine's (SCCM) Controversies in Critical Care series has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) to bring you the webcast, The Ethics of Outbreaks. Dr. Marie-Paule Kieny, Assistant Director-General for the WHO, and Dr. Abha Saxena, Coordinator of Global Health Ethics for the WHO, will review ethical dilemmas that arose during the recent Ebola outbreak. Vaccine trials, cultural imperatives and the ethics of preparing for future outbreaks will be discussed.
