This two-day course combines expert-developed presentations with hands-on skill stations to provide nonsurgical professionals with the training they need to provide initial care to critically ill surgical patients. The course augments and expands on Fundamental Critical Care Support core concepts and provides a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology of the seriously ill surgical patient and addresses the needs of this patient population. The course content covers the recognition and assessment of the seriously ill patient, mechanical ventilation, surgical airway emergencies, abdominal emergencies, surgical soft tissue complications, and cardiovascular surgical emergencies.

Hemodynamic Monitoring

Receive a comprehensive introduction to hemodynamic monitoring in critically ill patients. Course content covers basic principles of hemodynamics and shock management, concepts of functional hemodynamic monitoring and assessment of fluid responsiveness, and cardiovascular pharmacology.
